Welcome to the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences at UWA. As you are no doubt discovering, you are in a very rich intellectual environment, with over 3000 students studying Arts units in a broad range of disciplines, from Anthropology and the Classics to Philosophy and Women's Studies.

The units that you will study are designed to challenge you to think, to develop your opinions and defend them, and to explore new areas. You will be exposed to a broad range of learning contexts, from traditional lectures to interactive tutorials and practical workshops involving digital media.

We hope that you will take advantage of the opportunity to study for at least a semester overseas. We strongly believe that studying abroad greatly increases the value of your degree, and the flexibility of Arts courses makes it quite easy to do so.

Another opportunity to investigate is the Arts Practicum. Completing a practicum allows you to spend time in the workplace on a project related to your studies, allowing you to refine your professional skills and giving you invaluable contacts with a prospective employer.

The Faculty and University have a wealth of scholarly, cultural and social activities on offer, and we hope that you take advantage of these to make your time at UWA a valuable and enriching experience.
