UWA Handbook 2017

Bachelor of Philosophy (Honours)

Congratulations on securing a place in the Bachelor of Philosophy (Honours) course at UWA—entry into this course is highly prized. This integrated honours course is designed to ensure you develop high-level research and communication skills, preparing you for the challenges of achieving the highest international standards of excellence. You have the freedom to choose a major from any field of study within the Arts, Commerce, Design or Science bachelor's degrees while including intensive research as an integral part of your course. During the four-year course you will participate in a collaborative and interdisciplinary research project, work closely with a research mentor from your chosen field of study and develop your own research project with an academic supervisor. You will also have the added advantage of joining a diverse group of similarly motivated and talented researchers—the BPhil(Hons) student cohort. Although many graduates will choose to pursue a career in research, the course's focus on problem-solving, teamwork and communication skills, in addition to the overseas study experience, will ensure you are highly employable whatever career path you may choose in the future.
