Honours course

Honours in Pharmacology

An Honours in Pharmacology will allow you to gain an appreciation of the philosophy and practicalities of research, and give you the ability to formulate and write a literature review and research proposal in a standard format. You will be capable of reading scientific literature and synthesising critical aspects, as well as experienced in research methodology appropriate to your chosen field of study. This honours specialisation will develop your ability to collect, critically analyse, and interpret data, and encourage you to be creative in approaching problem solving in a scientific manner. Training in Pharmacology is most advantageous for careers in medicine, medical and academic research, dentistry, pharmacy, podiatry, pharmaceutical industry, and medical equipment. It will also provide you with a solid background for any field in which a critical approach to evaluating data is integral.

Entry requirements: the equivalent of a UWA weighted average mark of at least 65 per cent in the Level 3 units of the Pharmacology major or the Biomedical Science major.

Intake periods: Beginning of year and mid-year
