Content This unit focuses on the principles of assessment and evaluation in the context of education and the social sciences. Students explore principles of test construction, administration, scoring, item analysis and technical adequacy from both theoretical and practical perspectives.
Outcomes Students are able to (1) read and interpret information pertaining to the technical properties of established measures and (2) apply the principles introduced to constructing measures with appropriate technical properties.
Assessment This may comprise two or more assigned tasks. Further assessment information is provided in the unit outline.

Supplementary assessment is available for those students who obtain a mark of 45 to 49 inclusive in this unit.
