Content Service organisations in Australia comprise the majority of businesses and are increasing in number. This unit provides students with the skills and competence to understand the special needs associated with the marketing of consumer services such as airlines, telecommunications, hotels, restaurants and entertainment services. In particular, retailers are special types of consumer service providers and even those selling goods must offer a service component. The unit has a strong practical emphasis, hence real case studies are featured in the tutorials and assignments.
Outcomes Students are able to (1) understand the importance of services marketing and its role in marketing; (2) apply services marketing concepts to group project, weekly exercises and activities; (3) critically evaluate service processes through analytic tools and applying relevant concepts; (4) improve communication verbally and written in different contexts; and (5) develop effective teamwork competencies through group project and tutorial facilitation activities.
Assessment Typically this unit is assessed in the following ways: (1) assignment; (2) presentation; (3) final examination; and (4) tutorial contribution. Further information is available in the unit outline.

Supplementary assessment is not available in this unit except in the case of a bachelor's pass degree student who has obtained a mark of 45 to 49 overall and is currently enrolled in this unit, and it is the only remaining unit that the student must pass in order to complete their course.
