Unit Overview

Description

The units MUSC4140 Music Honours Research 1 and MUSC4141 Music Honours Research 2 enable students to undertake in-depth study in one of the specialisations: musicology, composition, performance, liturgical music, or electronic music and sound design.

Students will write their own creative/research contracts detailing assessment components and weightings. The LMS specifies mandatory minimum requirements and general guidelines for creative contracts, and students are encouraged to discuss these with the honours coordinator prior to enrolment. All contracts must be approved by principal teacher/supervisor, head of area, and honours coordinator.

As a guide, creative contracts comprise a variety components presented across semester one and two such as written dissertations, oral presentations, compositions of new works, performances.

The Music Honours Research units are taken over two successive semesters and both MUSC4140 and MUSC4141 must be completed to fulfil the requirements of the unit. Students can commence the unit in either semester 1 or semester 2
