Unit Overview

Description

This unit represents a bridge between learning a foreign language other than English and teaching it by introducing the student to the principles of foreign language pedagogy. Students will explore a range of contemporary issues in the field of second language acquisition and foreign language teaching while reflecting on their own language learning experience and achievements. Students will have the opportunity, thorough the development of a final project, to explore independently an area of language teaching of interest to them, related to the learner's age group and to the foreign language of their choice. The unit is designed to cater for students from a range of Western and Asian language learning backgrounds and aims in developing awareness of teaching career options for multilingual speakers. The unit will develop student's language awareness, communication skills, and writing and critical thinking skills.
