Unit Overview

Description

The design studio is defined as a pedagogical and physical environment where students experience the process of design. Its ambition is to guide and support students experiencing the design process by offering the structure to develop their own design methodology, underpinned by a strong research base and an eloquent and critical architectural literacy.

Students select from a range of autonomous studios offering a wide range of choice of project types with each studio structured as an exploration through architectural design. The context will range from formal briefs and competitions to themes informed by research expertise and practice. These typically require the design of medium to large-scale architectural propositions with complex constraints and requirements of research informed experimental projects.
