Description

In this unit, students gain proficiency in the processes involved in conducting research. This includes formulating research questions and hypotheses, developing detailed research proposals outlining the rationale for the study, and detailing rigorous sampling plans. Students also compile comprehensive risk assessments covering travel, fieldwork, and sample processing. Students will be able to communicate orally and in writing why they are undertaking research, how they have done it, and what they have found. Students will present data at informal and formal group presentations and in a written research report. Students are required to participate in a series of day trips to field sites during the semester.
