Unit Overview

Description

This unit can be taken part-time. A written research proposal must be submitted with the consent of the supervisors to the Advisory Panel. The proposal must be presented orally to a research panel convened by the supervisors. The final proposal must be approved by the Human Research Ethics Committee before data collection can proceed.

The thesis for the Doctor of Education is normally presented in typescript format. It should provide a comprehensive study of the topic under consideration and make a substantial and original contribution to knowledge. It should also be oriented to improving professional practice by extending theoretical bases to their practical implementation in education.

Outcomes

Students are able to (1) complete the research study described in the proposal and (2) present a thesis of 70,000 words.

Assessment

Indicative assessments in this unit are as follows: the thesis of 70,000 words examined by three examiners external to the University. Further information is available in the unit outline.



Supplementary assessment is not available in this unit.

Students will be required to achieve 144 in total for this unit.
The achievable credit points for this unit will show as zero points on transcripts for each semester. The final semesters achievable credit points will be amended to 144 points for completion.
