Description

This unit aims to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of ethical leadership in contemporary organisations, covering the principles and practices of ethical leadership in the context of emerging trends and technologies. Throughout this unit, students will explore topics such as leadership ethics, ethics of artificial intelligence at work, remote and hybrid work, and ethical human resource management. The unit includes foundational theories of ethical leadership, practical applications, and real-world dilemmas. It also addresses the challenges and opportunities of leading ethically in contemporary organisations and the development of sustainable and inclusive leadership practices.

Outcomes

Students are able to (1) explain the principles, challenges, and complexities of ethical leadership in contemporary organisations; (2) analyse the ethical implications of emerging technologies, such as AI, in business decisions; (3) evaluate the ethical challenges and best practices in remote and hybrid work environments; (4) apply ethical HR practices, including fair hiring, employee privacy, and performance management; (5) implement sustainable business strategies and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives; and (6) enhance self-awareness and the ability to lead with integrity and ethical responsibility.

Assessment

Indicative assessments in this unit are as follows: (1) class participation; (2) leadership learning journal; and (3) team project. Further information is available in the unit outline.



Student may be offered supplementary assessment in this unit if they meet the eligibility criteria.
