Unit Overview

Description

The Urban Design Capstone Studio focuses on a major real-world urban project selected in conjunction with the Australian Urban Design Research Centre's state government partners: The Western Australian Planning Commission, The Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage, the Department of Communities and DevelopmentWA. Students conduct a systematic analysis of the site and project brief and develop compelling yet feasible proposals for the selected site's development. At selected points during the studio, students have the opportunity to present to a review panel comprising representatives from the urban design profession, state government and the academy. The end product of this Capstone Studio is a design folio communicating the student's proficiency in all aspects of the urban design process.
