Unit Overview
- Description
This unit is part of a series of four dissertation units taken over two semesters, and parts 1 to 4 must be completed to fulfil the unit's requirements. In this unit, students undertake the honours dissertation, comprised of supervised research conducted by the individual student. The student's understanding of the topic is developed through an individually guided program of research, reading and attendance at occasional research seminars within the School. Students research the relevant literature, design the research project, write the research proposal, give an oral presentation of the research proposal, and submit an application for ethics approval of the dissertation. Students complete their research and submit their written theses. The thesis includes a literature review, descriptions of the methods and results, and a discussion. As part of a series of four dissertation units, students also make an oral presentation to academic staff about their research and findings during the second semester.
