Unit Overview

Description

This unit is taken over two semesters and parts 1 to 4 must be completed to fulfil the requirements of the unit. Students undertake the honours dissertation, which comprises supervised research conducted by the individual student. The student's understanding of the topic of the dissertation is developed through an individually guided program of library research, reading and attendance at occasional research seminars within the School. Students research the relevant literature, design the research project, write the research proposal, give an oral presentation of the research proposal and submit an application for ethical approval of the dissertation. Students complete their research and submit their written theses. The thesis includes a literature review, descriptions of the methods and results, and a discussion. As part of this unit students also make an oral presentation to academic staff of their research and findings during the second semester.
