Unit Overview

Description

This practical unit extends MUSC3587 Studio Teaching 1 for students within an instrumental or voice specialisation. Students maintain their intermediate performance skills from Level 2 units, and develop a comprehensive portfolio comprising a studio teaching model, lesson plans, personal resource materials, professional documentation (e.g. financial, insurances, student/parent information sheets), and specific teaching tools and techniques. Students continue to expand their knowledge of theories of teaching and pedagogies, receive practical immersion and discussion with a highly-experienced professional instructor regarding pedagogy, are mentored by the Chair of their specialisation area, and undertake a placement with an instrumental teacher within a school or private studio to observe and participate in instructing other students in one-to-one teaching.
