Unit Overview

Description

This is the final unit in the sequence of the Music Theatre Performance Skills units as part of the Music Theatre Studies major and builds on MUSC3751 Music Theatre Performance Skills 3. The unit refines musicianship, technical skills, and repertoire in music theatre performance.

The emphasis is upon development of singing technique and performance skills (in singing, dancing, and acting) culminating in a performance of a mixed program of chosen repertoire.

Outcomes

Students are able to (1) demonstrate an advanced singing technique in a music theatre style; (2) apply developing skills in singing, acting, and dancing to music theatre performance; and (3) demonstrate active and continuous reflection of skills development in singing, acting and dancing..

Assessment

Indicative assessments in this unit are as follows: (1) solo repertoire examination; (2) workshop participation; and (3) online component. Further information is available in the unit outline.

To pass this unit, a student must: (a) achieve an overall mark of 50 per cent or higher for the unit; and (b) achieve the requisite requirements(s) or a mark of 50 per cent or greater, whichever is higher and specified in the unit outline, for the solo repertoire examination component.

Student may be offered supplementary assessment in this unit if they meet the eligibility criteria.
