- The primary goal of this unit is to equip students with the research skills that will enable them to undertake high quality research of their own in organisational settings. The skills they learn in the unit are likely to supplement the skills they develop when they undertake their research thesis later in their course, and enable them to tackle research questions as they arise in their future careers. Essentially, the unit is designed to help students to (1) understand the value of research undertaken in organisational settings; (2) develop an understanding of four key organisational research methods; and (3) learn how to present research in organisational settings.
- Students are able to (1) be familiar with advanced methodologies and statistical techniques important for designing and evaluating research in applied psychology; (2) gain knowledge about methodological and practical issues important for implementing these techniques and how they might be applied to their own research; and (3) identify the critical relevance of appropriate designs and statistical analysis for evidence-based practice.
- Indicative assessments in this unit are as follows: (1) group assessments—proposal and presentation; (2) technical research report; and (3) executive research report. Further information is available in the unit outline.
