Unit Overview

Description

This unit is for students undertaking the joint/double-badged Doctor of Philosophy of UWA and Nagoya University, in their second year of PhD research study. Students will conduct research using appropriate facilities as outlined in their research proposal, timeline and agreed candidature plan. Students will be jointly supervised by relevant academics in the Faculty of Science at UWA and in the Graduate School of Bioagricultural Sciences at Nagoya University.

Outcomes

Students are able to an advanced understanding of, and development of skills to implement, the scientific method as applied to the chosen research topic. This includes hypothesis development and testing, specific training in specialized knowledge and techniques, logical and critical thinking, scientific communication, and ethics in science..

Assessment

Indicative assessments in this unit are as follows: submission and approval of the students Annual Progress report by the UWA Graduate Research School and to the relevant committee in the Graduate School of Bioagricultural Sciences at Nagoya University..
