Description

The unit will be the first in a sequence of three units, where students will receive various practical and theoretical skills in Hospitality.

Outcomes

Students are able to (1) apply communication and interpersonal skills to a working situation; (2) demonstrate initiative and, where required by the host supervisor, the ability to work independently; (3) perform tasks set by an employer to a satisfactory standard; and (4) reflect and report on the experience in the workplace.

Assessment

Indicative assessments in this unit are as follows: (1) completion of work placement hours and (2) reflection report. Further information is available in the unit outline.

To pass this unit, a student must: (a) achieve an overall mark of 50 per cent or higher for the unit; and (b) achieve the requisite requirements(s) or a mark of 50 per cent or greater, whichever is higher and specified in the unit outline, for the reflection report component.

This unit is assessed on an ungraded pass/ungraded failed basis. All assessment items must be successfully completed.

Supplementary assessment is not available in this unit.

Students enrolled in the Bachelor of Hospitality Management who have completed the required number of points.
