            Applicability of the Student Rules, policies and procedures

            3.2.4.1(1) The Student Rules apply to students in this course.

            (2) The policy, policy statements and guidance documents and student procedures apply, except as otherwise indicated in the rules for this course.

            3.2.4.2 Rescinded

            Applicability of the Faculty general provisions for bachelor's degrees

            3.2.4.3 The Faculty general provisions for bachelor's degrees in 3.2.1 apply to the course.

            Course structure

            3.2.4.4(1) The course consists of units to a total value of 144 points comprising—

            (a) both units in Table 3.2.4a [Bachelor of Arts (Asian Studies) core units]—12 points

            and

            (b) Level 2 or 3 Asian Studies units to a value of 24 points from Table 3.2.2a (Bachelor of Arts options);

            and

            (c) units to the value of 30 points from an Asian Language major;1

            and

            (d) either

            (i)A. Level 2 or 3 units to the value of 12 points towards completion of an Asian Studies major;

            and

            B. one Level 2 unit from a major complementary2 to Asian Studies chosen from the majors listed in Rule 3.2.2.5(1) [see (2)]—6 points

            or

            (ii) units to the value of 18 points towards completion of an Asian Language major1 [see (2)];

            and

            (e) Level 1 units to a value of 12 points and Level 2 or 3 units to a value of 18 points from a major complementary2 to Asian Studies chosen from the majors listed in Rule 3.2.2.5(1)—30 points

            and

            (f) Level 1 units to a value of 12 to 30 points and Level 2 or 3 units if necessary to make up the number of points required from Table 3.2.2a (Bachelor of Arts options)—30 points.

            (2) Students must complete either an Asian Language major or an Asian Studies major in the course.

            (3) A student may, with the approval of the Faculty, substitute other units on Asia for up to 18 points of Level 2 Asian Studies units.

            (4) Students are not permitted to include in the course, Level 1 units in any one subject area to a total value greater than 12 points.

            1 The Asian Language major streams are Beginners' stream and Post-Secondary stream.

            2 The majors complementary to Asian Studies are Anthropology, Archaeology, Economics, English, Geography, History, Employment Relations, Linguistics, and Political Science and International Relations.
