Unit Overview

Description

Students learn the philosophical foundations of the creative process in this unit. Participants are informed by readings and discussions and also learn by doing. Workshop sessions provide the opportunity for cohort members to develop skills to facilitate creativity in their lessons in a student-centric environment. By understanding and experiencing the elements of creativity, the teacher/musician is better equipped to inspire their students to explore imaginative and original ways of expressing the art of music making. This unit is a compulsory unit in the Master of Music International Pedagogy (coursework and dissertation) (12550) and Master of Music International Pedagogy (coursework) (12570). It is also open to students enrolled in other majors and degree pathways who fulfil the prerequisites and who have an interest in teaching creativity.
