The flexible nature of your undergraduate degree will allow you to design a study plan that has both depth and breadth. You can choose a range of electives (free choice units) from any of the undergraduate courses, providing you satisfy unit rules including prerequisites and co-requisites.

The number of electives you can take will depend on the major(s) you choose and their individual requirements. One single degree-specific major may leave room for up to 12 electives. If you choose an extended major you may have room to include up to six electives. If you take two majors you may have room for up to four electives or you may not have room for any electives.

When choosing your electives remember that in your degree you:

  • can enrol in a maximum of 12 Level 1 units
  • must enrol in at least 3 Level 3 units including core units in your major(s)
  • must include at least four broadening units

For more information on choosing electives, browse the units available in the following table or see a course adviser at your assigned Student Office. Find out which Student Office you are assigned to via studentConnect (login required).

To make up the remaining units required to complete an undergraduate degree course, you have a wide range of electives in many subject areas to choose from. These electives are listed below by level and in broad subject groupings:

Level 1
