Learning for the Professions minor
The Education minor introduces students to the fascinating field of learning. Learning builds the knowledge, understandings, skills, beliefs and values that allow humans to flourish and participate in society. Education is a lifelong process and is an essential component of professional and personal growth within dynamic professional contexts. The minor is not a teacher education minor and as such will not lead to a teaching degree. Interested students may however wish to consider undertaking a Master of Teaching (M.Teach) after completion of their undergraduate degree.
Students are able to (1) apply an understanding of theories of learning in a range of practical contexts; (2) compare and contrast the use of mobile technologies in both formal and informal contexts in the global North and South for diverse groups of learners, and maximise their own learning with mobile devices; (3) critique global trends in education to explain difference in quality of educational outcomes; and (4) use their understanding of theories of learning to design, implement and critique professional learning for specific contexts.
