Honours in the History of Art and Curatorial Studies develops research skills pertaining to art produced around the world. Through classroom-based coursework and a major research project this honours specialisation gives you the ability to critically engage with the history of art practice, the art world and its institutions. As a successful graduate, you will be eligible for postgraduate research courses and better equipped for employment in arts-related fields. These include curatorial and management positions in both public and private sectors of the industry. Most importantly, you will have facility with methods for understanding and communicating about art produced in different periods of history. - Outcomes
Students are able to (1) demonstrate advanced-level research skills that are methodologically informed; (2) articulate an independent critical position clearly in written and oral forms; and (3) use highly-developed skills of analysis and critical reasoning in order to advance and defend a proposed interpretation or argument.
- Entry requirements
The equivalent of a UWA weighted average mark of at least 70 per cent in the Level 3 core units of the MJD-ARHCU Art History and Curatorial Studies major
