Unit Overview

Description

This unit provides the theoretical underpinning of the clinical practice of Paediatric Dentistry. The unit is taken over two semesters and parts 1 and 2 must be completed to fulfil the requirements of the unit. The Theory units introduce students to the advanced theoretical aspects of Paediatric Dentistry allowing them to understand the scientific and clinical philosophies current in the discipline.

Outcomes

Students are able to (1) understand the theoretical aspects of paediatric dentistry allowing them to understand scientific and clinical philosophies current in the discipline. The students' knowledge towards the nature of the content increases in complexity and depth and (2) attain a thorough understanding of the theoretical aspects of the clinical discipline in Paediatric Dentistry. This includes the scientific, clinical, pathological and therapeutic aspects of the conditions and diseases they encounter..

Assessment

Indicative assessments in this unit are as follows: (1) written examination (MCQ and SAQ) and (2) oral examination. Further information is available in the unit outline.



Student may be offered supplementary assessment in this unit if they meet the eligibility criteria.
