Unit Overview
- Description
In this unit, pre-service teachers learn how the Arts curriculum is used to engage and inspire students in primary school to reach their creative and expressive potential. Pre-service teachers will explore how children's understandings of the five arts subjects of Dance, Drama, Media Arts, Music and Visual Arts provide opportunities to create, design, represent, communicate and share their imagined and conceptual ideas, emotions and experiences. They will examine the role that Arts plays in the development and expression of cultures and communities, including the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples to Australia's arts heritage and arts practices. Pre-service teachers will acquire knowledge, skills and understanding specific to the Arts subjects, and will develop their critical understanding to inform aesthetic choices. They will engage with symbols, techniques and processes of the arts subjects to express ideas, entertain and provoke responses through designing, producing and resolving a finished Arts-related project.
