Unit Overview

Description

This unit builds on the knowledge and skills gained in NURS5838 Contemporary Nursing and NURS5841 Nursing Practice 1 (Adult Health), and complements the knowledge and skills gained in NURS5839 Nursing Care of Clients Experiencing Acute and Chronic Illness. Students continue to apply, refine and expand their knowledge and skills in patient assessment, clinical decision making, clinical skills and nursing care of adult clients. The theoretical component of the unit explores evidence-based practice in relation to assessment, clinical skills and nursing care of clients experiencing acute and chronic illness. In the clinical skills learning component of this unit, students develop clinical skills related to medical and surgical nursing care, including medication administration. The major focus of the 80 hours of facilitated clinical practice is clinical decision making and responding to the nursing care needs of adult clients experiencing acute and chronic illness.
