Unit Overview

Description

This Unit focuses on how entrepreneurs develop business ideas and technological breakthroughs into profitable and sustainable companies. We seek to understand the unique growth challenges faced by start-ups and the specific approaches to scaling their business models and commercialising their products. A number of topics will be explored through theoretical and practical lenses, such as recognising value and applicability of technology, business models for growth, collaborating with partners, attracting funding and protecting intellectual property. Students will dissect real-world examples of successful and failed start-ups in order to evaluate the effectiveness of different approaches and recognise when they should be applied.
