            Time limits

            9.2.1.1 Where a student is granted credit towards a bachelor's degree course by virtue of work completed in another course at this or another institution, the student must complete the requirements for the new degree course within 10 calendar years of the date on which that previous study began.

            Academic Conduct Essentials module

            9.2.1.1A(1) Except as stated in (2), a student who enrols in a course of the University for the first time, irrespective of whether they have previously been enrolled in another course of the University, must undertake a module called Academic Conduct Essentials (the ACE module) in the teaching period in which they are first enrolled.

            (2) A student who has previously achieved a result of Ungraded Pass (UP) for the ACE module is not required to repeat the module.

            (3) A student who has not achieved a result of Ungraded Pass (UP) for the ACE module when their progress is assessed will not have made satisfactory progress even if they have met the other requirements for satisfactory progress in the rules for the course.

            (4) A student who fails to make satisfactory progress in terms of (3) is assigned a progress status of 'On Probation' unless they have been assigned a progress status of 'Suspended' or 'Excluded' for failure to meet the other requirements for satisfactory progress set out in the rules for the course.

            Overload

            9.2.1.2 Unless otherwise approved by the Faculty, a student in the first year of enrolment is not permitted to enrol in more than 48 points (or 54 points in a combined course), and a student in subsequent years is not permitted to enrol in units with a total value of more than 54 points in any year, or 30 points in any semester.

            Satisfactory progress

            9.2.1.3 To make satisfactory progress in a calendar year a student must pass units to a value of at least half the total value of units in which they remain enrolled after the final date for withdrawal without academic penalty.

            Progress status

            9.2.1.3A(1) A student who makes satisfactory progress is assigned the status of 'Good Standing'.

            (2) Unless the Faculty determines otherwise because of exceptional circumstances—

            (a) a student who is required to complete the ACE module under Rule 9.2.1.1A and who does not make satisfactory progress under Rule 9.2.1.1A(3) is assigned a progress status of 'On Probation' unless they have been assigned a progress status of 'Suspended' or 'Excluded' under (c) or (d) below.

            (b) a student who does not make satisfactory progress for the first time under Rule 9.2.1.3 is assigned the progress status of 'On Probation';

            (c) a student who does not make satisfactory progress for the second time under Rule 9.2.1.3 is assigned the progress status of 'Suspended';

            (d) a student who does not make satisfactory progress for the third time under Rule 9.2.1.3 is assigned the progress status of 'Excluded'.
