This unit will further extend knowledge and clinical skills and relevant concepts in the disciplines of Prosthodontics, Cariology, Periodontics, Prosthodontics, Orthodontics, Endodontics, Oral Surgery, Oral Medicine and Implantology. This will enable students to diagnose and formulate treatment planning for comprehensive clinical care. The topics will include Occlusion, Bruxism, implant supported fixed and partial dentures, dento-facial aesthetics, veneer and other aesthetic procedures and oral rehabilitation. Students will continue to undertake their clinical, laboratory or research project and provide relevant documentation for assessment.
Students are able to (1) describe the principles and goals of occlusal rehabilitation and describe the clinical procedures to achieve it; (2) describe oral parafunctions and their management; (3) describe the types of dental implants, the clinical and technical steps required for placement and their integration within the dental treatment; (4) use clinical and therapeutic methods to formulate proper treatment planning for restoring oral functions; (5) undertake a clinical, laboratory or public health research project and produce relevant documentation required for its assessment; (6) display professional behaviour in the educational and clinical settings,; (7) discuss challenges to professionalism and reflect on professional behaviours in the clinical setting; (8) display critical and insightful self-reflection of their own personal values, wellbeing, personal difficulties and professional performance; and (9) respond to professionalism challenges and insightful self reflection by implementing effective management strategies.

SLO 1, 2, 3, 4; (3) assignment research progress

To pass this unit, a student must: (a) achieve an overall mark of 50 per cent or higher for the unit; and (b) achieve the requisite requirements(s) or a mark of 50 per cent or greater, whichever is higher and specified in the unit outline, for the written assessment (Failed Component)

SLO 3 components.

Supplementary assessment is available in this unit. Supplementary assessment is available for students currently enrolled in the unit who obtain a mark of 45 to 49 overall and a mark of at least 45 in any Failed Component(s)
