This unit provides students with the opportunity of quasi-independent practice of general dentistry in preparation for graduation. This unit continues on from DENT5406 Integrated Dental Practice 3.

Students are able to (1) consolidate their knowledge of comprehensive care and clinical competencies through quasi-independent practice under limited supervision in metropolitan Dental Health Services Clinics and the Oral Health Centre of Western Australia (OHCWA); (2) display professional behaviour in the educational and clinical settings,; (3) discuss challenges to professionalism and reflect on professional behaviours in the clinical setting; (4) display critical and insightful self-reflection of their own personal values, wellbeing, personal difficulties and professional performance; and (5) respond to professionalism challenges and insightful self reflection by implementing effective management strategies.
- Assessment
Indicative assessments in this unit are as follows: (1) literature review; (2) case planning; (3) clinic; and (4) professional behaviour assessment. Further information is available in the unit outline.
To pass this unit, a student must: (a) achieve an overall mark of 50 per cent or higher for the unit; and (b) achieve the requisite requirements(s) or a mark of 50 per cent or greater, whichever is higher and specified in the unit outline, for the case planning, clinic, and professional behaviour assessment components.
Student may be offered supplementary assessment in this unit if they meet the eligibility criteria.

100% Online Unit. NO campus face-to-face attendance is required to complete this unit. All study requirements are online only. Unit is asynchronous delivery, with NO requirement for students to participate online at specific times.

100% Online Unit. NO campus face-to-face attendance is required to complete this unit. All study requirements are online only. Unit includes some synchronous components, with a requirement for students to participate online at specific times.
Online Restricted
Not available for self-enrolment. Students access this mode by contacting their student office through AskUWA. 100% Online Unit.
NO campus face-to-face attendance. All study and assessment requirements are online only. Unit includes some timetabled activities, with a requirement for students to participate online at specific times. In exceptional cases (noted in the Handbook) students may be required to participate in face-to-face laboratory classes when a return to UWA’s Crawley campus becomes possible in order to be awarded a final grade.
External
No attendance or regular contact is required, and all study requirements are completed either via correspondence and/or online submission.
Off-campus
Regular attendance is not required, but student attends the institution face to face on an agreed schedule for purposes of supervision and/or instruction.
