Unit Overview

Description

This practical unit draws together students from different instrumental and voice specialisations to examine the practical issues underpinning teaching of solo instrumental and vocal performance. In extending practical instruction from their previous MUSC2542 Principal Studies 4 or MUSC3541 Principal Studies 5, within their instrumental or voice specialisation students will explore theories of teaching and the pedagogies that are most common, be mentored by the Chair of their specialisation area, observe and participate in instructing other students in one-to-one teaching, and develop a practical studio teaching model that can be applied immediately.
