Honours Overview
- Description
The honours research component comprises both training and active research by students. Training in research methods and qualitative and quantitative research techniques will be provided in the two research methods/techniques units, and will be distributed across these two units such that students will have some choice of modules on different techniques within the units. This will ensure that students are exposed to a wide range of methods and also can pursue some methods particularly relevant to their theses in greater depth. In the Special Topics in Management Seminar 1, students will develop advanced knowledge of their discipline in individually tailored reading, presenting, and writing related to their thesis topics. In part 1 of the Honours Research Project, students will write and present the research proposal, including obtaining ethical approval for their research. In Special Topics in Management Seminar 2, students will undertake an assessed reading and seminar
program that covers one or more of the latest advanced topics in management, with a scholar or scholars of international standing. This will extend and broaden the students' knowledge of the discipline beyond the area of the thesis. In part 2 of the Honours Research Project, students complete their research and submit their written theses. The thesis includes a literature review, descriptions of the methods and results, and a discussion. As part of this unit students also make an oral presentation to academic staff of their research and findings.
